Ocala Shrine Rodeo

The Ocala Shrine Rodeo was held August 29-30th at the SE Livestock Pavilion in Ocala, Florida. Clayton Culligan was awarded all-around cowboy and a check for $978 by entering the steer wrestling and team roping. He also took sixth in the steer wrestling for his 6.8 run for another $208 and fourth in the team roping with header  Juan Alcazar Jr for their 6.7 run to take home an additional $770. Monty Ray Fontenot took first in the bareback riding for his 75.5 point ride on Big Ben (Five Star Rodeo) for $1,061. Zach Trapp took first in the steer wrestling for his 5.0 second run to earn $1,206. There was a tie for first in the team roping between Bart Brunson & Trace Porter and Spunk Sasser & Bryce Hart with both teams stopping the clock at 6.3 seconds to net them $1,457 each. Drew Bordelon took first in the saddle bronc riding for his big 85 point ride on Big Star (Five Star Rodeo) for $1,173. Colt Papy took first in the tie-down roping for his 9.6 second run to earn $1,206. Margo Crowther took first in the barrel racing for her 16.28 second run to net her $993. There was also a tie for first in the breakaway roping between Traci Ashton, Ajae Griffin, and Maelee Wade, with all three ladies having 2.5 second runs to take home $1,286 each. Trent Ferreir was the only one who was able to successfully cover his bull with his 83.5 point ride on No. 05 (Five Star Rodeo) for $3,684. Five Star Rodeo provided the stock along with sub-contractors Marty Johns and Jason Hanchey. Reed Durrance and Spook Whidden were the pickup men and Jake Geiger and Ben West kept the bull riders safe.
