This year marks 93rds year for the annual Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo. It's known as Oklahoma's Hall of Fame Rodeo and attracts some of the top PRCA cowboys and cowgirls competing for two weeks for a shot at the near half a million payout. The Panhandle weather decided to play nice this year and the rodeo was held May 2-4th under sunny skies and warm nights.
In the roughstock events, Jess Pope took first with a huge 90.5 point ride on Breaking News (Frontier Rodeo) for $3,539. Wyatt Casper beat out Rusty Wright by 2 points with his 88.5 points on Gossip Girl (Kirsten Vold Rodeo Company) for first and a check for $3,920. Rusty took second with his smooth 86.5 point ride on Top Pick (Frontier Rodeo) to earn himself $3,005. Lukasey Morris took first in the bull riding with his impressive 88.5 point ride on Moon Flower (Frontier Rodeo) for $3,976.

In the steer wrestling, Holden Myers took first in the first round with his 3.6 second run to earn $2,516, tied for fifth in the second round with his 4.2 for $875, and took first in the average for 13.0 seconds on three head to take home an additional $3,774. Quint Bell took first in the second round with his 3.6 second run for $2,516. Justin Shaffer took first in the semi-finals with his 4.0 second run for $2,516. Shaffer also placed second in the second round with his 4.0 second run to earn $2,188 as well as third in the average for 13.4 on three head to take home an additional $2,790.
Chet Weitz & Kaden Graves took first in the first round of the team roping with their 7.2 second run to take home $2,484 each, along with placing second in the semi-finals with their fast 6.6 to earn another $2,160. Bubba Buckaloo & Joseph Harrison took first in the second round with a quick 7.1 second run to earn $2,484 each. They also placed fifth in the first round with their 8.7second run for $1,188 each, sixth in the semi-finals with a 7.7 second run for $864 each, and first in the average for 23.5 seconds on three head to take home an additional $3,726 each. Dalton Turner & Clay Clayman had the fastest time in the team roping to take first in the semi-finals with their 6.1 seconds run for a $2,484 check each.

Cole Clemons took first in the first round of the tie-down roping with his 7.4 second run for $3,892, sixth in the semi-finals with a 8.3 second run for $1,354, and first in the average for 24.7 seconds on three head to take home an additional $5,837. Ryan Jarrett took first in the second round with a 7.3 second run $3,892 as well as sixth in the average for 26.4 for another $2,792.
Coleman Proctor placed first in the first round of the steer roping with a 11.0 seconds run for $1,701 and third in the average for 54.5 on four head $2,514. He also took home a check for $6,375 for all-around cowboy. He placed second in the second round paired with heeler Logan Medlin for their 7.2 second run to earn $2,160. Kelton McMillen took first in the second round with his quick 10.7 second run for $1,701. Cole Patterson took first in the third round with a 9.6 second run for $1,701. Slade Wood took first in the fourth round with his 10.6 second run to earn himself a $1,701 check. Will Eddleman took first in the average with 50.9 seconds on four head for $3,402. Eddleman also placed fifth in the first round with his 12.7 for $813 and third in the fourth round for his12.3 second run to bring home an additional $1,257.

Moving onto the women's timed events, Wenda Johnson took first in the barrel racing with her fast 17.31 second run to earn $5,258. Aspen Miller took first in the first round of the breakaway roping with her lightning fast 2.2 second run for $2,127, sixth in the second round with a 3.5 second run for $601, first in the semi-finals with her 2.4 second run for $2,127, as well as first in the average for 8.1 seconds on three head to take home an additional $3,191. There was a tie for first in the second round between Mataya Eklund and TiAda Gray who both stopped the clock at 2.9 seconds for $1,988 each.

Stock was provided by Frontier Rodeo with sub-contractors Corey Ross, Trell Etbauer, Jace Honey, Kirsten Vold Rodeo Company, and Championship Pro Rodeo. Robbie Hodges kept the crowds entertained and Nathan Jestes and Knox Dunn kept the bull riders safe. Shawn Calhoun, Dusty Moore and Ty Atchison were the pickup men.
