Ellensburg Rodeo

One of Washington's biggest rodeos, The Ellensburg Rodeo, kicked off August 29 - September 1st at the Ellensburg Rodeo Arena. This one is a big one for those in the dash for the NFR cash. Stetson Wright got it done the Wright way taking home $8,214 for all-around cowboy by entering the saddle bronc riding and bull riding. He also took sixth in the first round of the saddle bronc riding with an 86 point ride for an another $829 and fifth in the average for 170.5 on two head for an additional $1,161. Stetson also placed fifth in the first round of the bull riding with an 83.5 points for $1,161, second in the finals with an 87 to earn $1,650, and second in the average for 170.5 on two head for an extra $3,814. He was one cowboy that left Washington with his pockets a little heavier.


In the first round of the bareback riding, Jess Pope took first with a big 87 point ride on Xceptional Marga (Calgary Stampede) for $4,978. Cole Franks took first in the final with a huge 90.5 points on Disco Party (Calgary Stampede) for $1,650. There was a three-way tie for first in the average between Cole Franks, Bradlee Miller, and Jess Pope, with all three riders scoring 172 points on two head to bring home $3,872 each.


J.D. Struxness took first in the first round of the steer wrestling with his 4.2 second run to pocket $4,270. There was a three-way tie in the second round between Dakota Eldridge, Shane Frey, and Logan Kenline, with all three bulldoggers stopping the clock at 4.0 seconds to earn $3,713 each. J.D. Struxness took first in the finals with his 4.0 second run for another $1,247 and first in the average for 13.3 seconds on three head for an additional $6,405.


Garrett Rogers & Jake Minor took first in the first round fo the team roping with their fast 4.9 second run to take home $4,049 each. Riley Minor & Brady Minor took first in the second round with their 4.9 second run to net them $4,049 each. J.C. Yeahquo & Ross Ashford took first in the finals with a 4.9 second run for $1,117 each and first in the average for 16.4 seconds on three head to earn an additional $6,074 each.


There was a tie for first in the saddle bronc riding between Damian Brennan on Weekend Departur (Calgary Stampede) and Statler Wright on Frenemies (Korkow Rodeos) with both cowboys scoring big 88 point rides to bring home $4,394 each. Jake Finlay took first in the second round with his impressive 87.5 points on Dandy Delight (Calgary Stampede) for $1,650. Damian Brennan also took first in the average for 174.5 points on two head to earn an additional $4,975.


Brushton Minton took first in the first round of tie-down roping for his 8.1 second run to net him $4,270. Riley Pruitt took first in the second round for his 8.1 second run to earn $4,270. Riley Mason Webb took first in the finals with his 8.1 second run to take home $1,247. First in the average went to Cole Clemons for 27.4 seconds on three head to earn $6,405.


Sharin Hall took first in the first round of the barrel racing for her quick 16.92 second run to pocket $2,825. Katelyn Scott took first in the second round for her 16.79 second run to take home $2,825. Summer Kosel took first in the finals for her 16.99 second run to net her $2,092 and first in the average for 51.32 seconds on three head to take bring home an additional $4,237.


J. Tom Fisher took first in the first round of the steer roping for his fast 11.1 second run to earn $1,924. Riley O'Rourke took first in the second round for 10.6 seconds to net him a check for $1,924. J. Tom Fisher also took first in the average for 25.2 seconds on two head to bring home an additional $2,886.


TiAda Gray took first in the first round of the breakaway roping for her 2.5 seconds run to earn $3,455. Erin Johnson took first in the second round for her 2.3 second run to net her $3,455. Martha Angelone took first in the finals for her 2.5 second run to pocket $1,471. There was a tie for first in the average between Beau Peterson and Martha Angelone, with both ladies having 8.3 seconds on three head to take home $4,812 each.


Jr Stratford took first in the first round with his big 86.5 points on Fireball (Corey & Lange Rodeo) $4,975. Hudson Bolton took first in the second round with his phenomenal 88 point ride on Hell Ya Roscoe (Corey & Lange Rodeo) for $2,050 and first in the average for 172.5 points on two head to take home an additional $4,975.


Corey & Lange Rodeo provided the stock along with sub-contractors Brent Palmer, Caleb McMillan, Aces Wild Pro Rodeo, Dakota Rodeo, Calgary Stampede, Flying 5 Rodeo, Big Bend Rodeo, Korkow Rodeos, and Outlawbuckers Rodeo. Jacob Stacy, Tyler Kraft and Caleb McMillan were the pickup men and Dusty Tuckness, Nathan Jestes, and Austin Ashley kept the bull riders safe.
