NWSS Bracket 5 & 6

Bracket 5 Round 1

The action continued in Denver with several athletes hoping to start their season off strong with a win at the NWSS. One of those athlete is Jacob Lee who took first in the bareback riding in the first round of Bracket 5 with his 85 point ride on Freshman 15 (Cervi Championship Rodeo). Lees has already qualified for The Wrangler NFR in 2023 and 2024. Last year he finished the season in 18th place but hopes to be once again in the top 15 headed to Sin City in December.
Tory Johnson beat out Tyler Waguespack by .1 of a second with his 3.6 seconds run for first in the steer wrestling. Denton Parish & Corey Hendrick took first in the team roping with their 5.0 second run. Josue Molina took first in the saddle bronc riding with his 80 point ride on Mesquite Thorn (The Cervi Brothers). Colton Suther took first in the tie-down roping with his 8.0 second run. Sydney Graham took first in the barrel racing with her 15.02 second run. Only three riders were able to successfully cover their bulls. Koby Jacobson took first of the three with his 79.5 point ride on Barf Bag (The Cervi Brothers).
Round 2

Louisiana bulldogger Tyler Waguespack has his eyes on winning the NWSS. Although this Wrangler NFR veteran has had success at NWSS in past seasons, he has never left the Denver Coliseum with the championship title. He is off to a strong start this year taking second in Round One followed by first in Round 2 with his 3.8 second run to secure a place in the semi-final round.
Wyatt Wameka took first in the bareback with his 82 points on Nacho Libre (The Cervi Brothers). Tanner Tomlinson & Coleby Payne took first in the team roping with their 4.2 second run. Josue Molina took first again in the saddle bronc riding with his 75 point ride on Slap Happy (Cervi Championship Rodeo). Jett Barrett took first in the tie-down roping with his 7.5 second run. Gracen Harman took first in the barrel racing with her 14.95 second run. Brody Hasenack took first in one of only two qualified rides with his 85.5 points on High Voltage (Cervi Championship Rodeo).
Bracket 6 Round 1
Cole Reiner took first in the bareback riding with an 81.5 point ride on Bottineau Bulldo (Bailey Pro Rodeo). Rhett Witt took first in the steer wrestling with his 4.0 second run. There was a tie for first in the saddle bronc riding between Dawson Dahm on Hard Drive (Bailey Pro Rodeo) and Roper Kiesner Capone (Bailey Pro Rodeo) with both riders scoring matching 81.5 points. Kole Ashbacher took first in the saddle bronc riding with his 81 points on Extra Special (Bailey Pro Rodeo). Andrew Ward & Jake Long took first in the team roping with their 4.5 second run. Matt Peters took first in the tie-down roping with his 9.1 second run. Brittany Fellows took first in the barrel racing with her 14.71 seconds run. Tyler Kippes, who underwent heart surgery last year, is healed, healthy, and back to competing, taking first in the bull riding with his 83 point ride on Ice Man (Bailey Pro Rodeo).
Round 2
Cole Reiner took first again in the bareback riding in the second round of Bracket 6 with his 84 points on Ready To Rock (Bailey Pro Rodeo) to secure his place in the semi-finals. Rooster Yazzie took first in the steer wrestling with his 4.6 seconds run. Kellan Johnson & Trae Smith took first in the team roping with their quick 4.4 second run. Brodey Clemons took first in the tie-down roping with his 7.4 second run. Brittany Fellows took first again in the barrel racing in Round 2 with her 14.87 seconds run. Grady Young took first in the bull riding with his 85 points on Johnny Reb (Cervi Championship Rodeo). He is advancing to semi-finals along side Kippes.
