The Fort Worth Stock Show kicked off to a frigid start Friday but rodeo fans and contestants braved the snow and icy conditions to make it to the Dickies Arena. Two athletes showed they were healed and ready to return to the rodeo action in Bracket 1 Round 1 after being sidelined with injuries. Leighton Berry, a 3x Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier who was out due to hip surgery spurred one out for 86.5 points on Ruffie’s Rage (Brookman Rodeo) for a $2,500 check and first place in the bareback riding. Andrew Burks was also out for a few months after losing fingers in a roping accident at Mandan, North Dakota this past season. He also took first the tie-down roping with a 9.4 second run to pocket $2,575. Joe Nelson took first in the steer wrestling with his 4.0 seconds run to net him $2,718. Rylee George took first in the breakaway roping with her 2.1 seconds run to take home $2,575. There was a tie for first in the saddle bronc riding between Jake Finlay on Muddy

Creek (Rafter G Rodeo) and Zac Dallas on Apollo (Brookman Rodeo) with both cowboys scoring matching 85 point rides for $2,218 each. Dawson & Dillon Graham took first in the team roping with their 4.8 seconds run to pocket $2,575 each. Emily Beisel took first in the barrel racing with her 16.65 seconds run to earn $2,500. Trevor Reiste took first as one of only two riders to successfully cover their bull with his 85 point ride on Darth Vader (Rafter G Rodeo) for $4,000.

It was another day of icy temperatures but the rodeo action brought the heat inside off the Dickies Arena. Jacob Lees took first in the bareback riding with his huge 89.5 point ride on Lunatic Heaven (Brookman Rodeo) for $2,518. Lees and Leighton Berry moved onto the semi-finals and Orin Larsen qualified for the wild card round. Jacob Daniell capitalized on the tournament spot he got via his win at the Ellis County Livestock Show & Rodeo to take first in the steer wrestling with his 4.3 seconds run to earn $2,518. Daniell and Joe Nelson qualified for the semi-finals and the Wild Card qualifier was Tyler Scheeve. There was a tie for first in the breakaway roping between Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Hannah Giger, with both ladies stopping the clock at 2.2 seconds to bring home $2,218 each. Boijoli-Meged and Summer Williams qualified for the semi-final round and the Rylee George qualified for the Wild Card spot. Darcy Radel took first in the saddle bronc riding with a big 87.5 point ride on Me Mojo (Korkow Rodeos) for $2,542. He and Allen Boore will advance to the semi-finals and Jake

Finlay qualified for the Wild Card round. John Douch took first in the tie-down roping with his 8.6 seconds run to pocket. $2,625. Douch has qualified for the semi-finals along with Hunter Herrin and Cash Enderli qualified for the Wild Card spot. Cody Snow & Hunter Koch took first in the team roping with their 4.0 seconds run to bring home $2,575 each. They are advancing to the semi-finals along with Graham & Graham and Colby Lovell & Ty Arnold will advance onto the Wild Card round. Emily Beisel had the round win again in the barrel racing with her 16.39 second run to earn $2,518. She will be joined in the semi-finals with Lisa Lockhart and Stephanie Fryar qualified for the Wild Card. Braxton Whitesell was the lone rider able to successfully cover his bull with his 84.5 point ride on Peaky Blinders (Rafter G Rodeo) for a $7,400 check. He will advance onto the semi-finals with Trevor Reiste and Thayne Elshere qualified for the Wild Card spot.
