The Cowboys of Color Invitational Rodeo presented by T39 Telemundo kicked off this past Monday at the Dickies Arena as part of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR). This event highlights African American, Hispanic, and Native American rodeo athletes competing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and includes the traditional rodeo pageantry and patriotic music along with “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” often referred to as the black national anthem. This year it featured performances from the Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School Marching Band, the Escaramuza, and the Circle L5 Riding Club.

Trevor McCaslin of Glenpool spurred his way into first place once again this year with his 74 point ride. McCaslin had previously won the event in 2022 and 2023. Reigning Texas High School Champion Bull Rider Avontis Williams took first in the bull riding with his smooth 86 point ride. Both McCaslin and Williams earned $2,750 for their efforts as both riders were only one of two in their event to successfully make the 8 seconds. Sterling Walton took first in the steer wrestling with a

5 second run. Kadrion Richards took first in the tie-down roping with his 9.0 second run. Kailee Howell took first in the barrel racing, with her 17.51 second run.
