Cooks Rodeo Days

The Cooks Rodeo Days was held October 24-25 at the Cooks Garage in Lubbock, Texas. All-around cowboy went to Slade Wood who pocketed a check for $2,102 by entering the team roping and steer roping. He also placed first in the first round of the team roping with partner Jayden Cisneros for their 4.2 second run to net him an another $1,883 and sixth in the first round of the tie-down roping for his 13.3 run to earn another $218.


In the roughstock event, Luke Thrash took first in the bareback with his powerful 85 point ride on Exposed Vegas (Smith Pro Rodeos) for $1,906. Ross Griffin took first in the saddle bronc riding with his big 87 points on Lillie Langtry (Rafter G Rodeo) for $2,335. There were only two qualified rides in the bull riding. Trent Ferreir took first with his 87 point ride on Hacked Off (Smith Pro Rodeos) to take home $9,577.


In this first round of the steer wrestling, Chase Crane took first with his 3.8 second run to earn $1,557 and in the average for 12.5 seconds on three head for another $2,335. Riley Duvall took first in the second round with his 3.6 second run for a $1,557 check. Logan Kenline took first in the semifinals with his 3.5 second run to pocket $1,557.


Slade Wood & Jayden Cisneros took first in the first round of the team roping with their 4.2 second run to bring home $1,883 each. There was a tie in the second round between Ketch Kelton & Paul Eaves and Marcus Theriot & Chase Graves, with both teams clocking 3.9 second runs to net them $1,761 each. Brenten Hall & Kaden Profili took first in the semifinal round with their 4.5 second to earn $1,883 each. Curry Kirchner & Jake Clay took first in the average for 14.3 seconds on three head to pocket $2,825 each.


Joel Harris took first in the first round of the tie-down roping for their 7.8 second run to earn $2,035. Sam Lewis took first in the second round with his 7.4 second run for $2,035. Riley Mason Webb took first in the semifinals with his 7.7 second run to pocket $2,035. Dylan Hancock took first in the average for 26.1 seconds on three head to take home $3,052.


In the women's events, Carlee Otero took first with her quick 16.77 second run for a $2,937 check. In round one of the breakaway roping, Tibba Smith took first with her 2.2 seconds run to earn $1,435. Jaci Hammons took first in the semifinals with her 2.1 second run to net her $1,435 and first in the average for 4.6 seconds on two head for another $2,152.


Dalton Walker took first in the first round of the steer roping with his 10.9 second run to take home $1,266. Scott Snedecor took first in the second round with his 9.5 second run for $1,266. Dalton Walker took first again in the semifinal round with his 11.6 second run for another $1,266. First in the average went to Scott Snedecor for 43.8 seconds on three head to pocket $1,899.


Smith Pro Rodeos, Jace Honey, Bobby Joe Hill, Quade Hiatt, Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co, Korkow Rodeos, Rafter G Rodeo, and Rafter S Rodeo Company provided the stock. Paul Peterson was the lone pickup men and Darran Robertson and Brody Smith were the bullfighters.
