The 101 Wild West Rodeo was held this year June 11-12th at the 101 Wild West Rodeo Arena in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Unfortunately, the Oklahoma weather did not decide to play nice for the final perf and it had to be canceled due to threats of severe weather and tornadoes warnings.
Kyle Deckard took home $3,485 as the all-around cowboy for competing in the tie-down roping and steer roping. Bryce Eck took first in the bareback riding with his 87 points on American Hat's Wind Me Up (Andrews Rodeo) for $1,963. Tanner Brunner took first in the steer wrestling with his 4.8 seconds run to earn $2,184. There was a tie for first in the team roping between Casey Hicks & Jake Pianalto and Blaine Turner & Ethan Cory, with both teams stopping the clock at 5.9 seconds to net them $2,154 each. There was also a tie in the saddle bronc riding between Blake Steuck on Sweet Fame (Andrews Rodeo) and Jett Williams on Magic Margaret (Andrews Rodeo), with both riders scoring 83 points for $1,993 each. McKade Wickett took first in the tie-down roping with his 9.4 seconds run to pocket $3,715. Emily Beisel took first in the barrel racing with her 16.09 seconds run to earn $2,476. There was also another tie in the bull riding between Hudson Bolton on Rick's Honky Tonk (Diamond G Rodeo) and Jackson Ward on Shaboozey (Andrews Rodeo), with both riders scoring 89.5 point rides for $3,700 each.
Dalton Walker took first in the first round of the steer roping with his 10.2 seconds run to earn $1,572. He was beat out in the second round for first by Taylor Santos with his quick 9.5 seconds run for $1,572. Ryan Willberg took first in the third round for his 10.6 seconds run to pocket $1,572. First in the average went to Dalton Walker for 35.9 seconds on three head to bring home an additional $2,358.
The total payoff this year was $124,917. Andrews Rodeo provided the stock along with sub-contractors Diamond G Rodeo, Clinton Couch, and JJ Miller. Brandon Harris and Jj Hatcher Jr. were the pickup men and Cody Emerson and Nathan Harp kept the bull riders safe.
