The Sundre Pro Rodeo was held June 19-22nd at the Sundre Rodeo Grounds in Sundre, Alberta. Ty Taypotat took first inthe bareback riding with a big ride on 86.5 points on Born Fearless (Calgary Stampede) for $3,159. This win put Taypotat within the top 12 bareback riding which is exactly where he hopes to stay to make his 13th CFR qualification this season. He credits his success this year to training smart and taking some time off to heal, “All last year I was injured and struggled pretty much the whole season. I wasn’t having any fun and I needed to take some time off. After CFR I took six and a half months off. I needed to heal the body up. I’m not 18 years-old anymore."

Dalton Massey took first in the steer wrestling with his 4.5 second run to pocket $4,391. Tee McLeod & Chase Tryan took first in the team roping with their 4.5 second run to take home $3,926 each. There was a tie for first in the saddle bronc riding between Dawson Hay on Easy Margie (Calgary Stampede) and Dylan Young on Black Elvis (Northcott-Yule Rodeo), with both riders scoring 85.5 point rides to take home $2,729 each.
