The Rocky Pro Rodeo was held June 5-7 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Saddle bronc rider Ben Andersen started off his June red hot, first with an 87 point ride on F-53 Flying Carma (Calgary Stampede) for $3023.04, followed by a Sunday afternoon win at his hometown Rocky Pro Rodeo where he spurred 905 Black Elvis (Big O) out for 85 points to net him another $1760.81. “It doesn’t get better than this,” Andersen said. “My hometown rodeo, my family’s here cheering me on and a real good horse from Orrin Wade and Big O Rodeo, this is pretty cool. I’m really happy with the way the season has gone so far and I just want to keep it going."
Wyatt Maine took first in the bareback riding with his 84 points on H53 City Creek (Vold Rodeo Ltd) for $1,422.97. Cody Fraser took first in the bull riding with his 83 point ride on 203 Black Suga’ (Vold Rodeo Ltd) for $3,686.87. Shay Stewart took first in the tie-down roping for his 10.3 seconds run to pocket $2,967.35. Josh Harden took first in the steer wrestling with his 4.1 second run to net him $2,891.68. Kyla Simmons took first in the barrel racing with her 16.510 second run to bring home $3,139.60. Blaze Torkelson took first in the steer riding with a 77 point ride to net him $703.25. Kash Bonnet & Logan Cullen took first in the team roping with their 4.6 seconds run to take home $5,102.32. Shayla Biever took first in the breakaway roping with her 2 seconds flat run to win $2,491.47.
The total payout this year was $106,050.90. Vold Rodeo Ltd provided the stock along with sub-contrators Outlawbuckers Rodeo Corp and Big O Rodeo Co. Stran Schlosser and Tyler Thomson were the pickup men and Owen Perry and Kris Buffalo provided the protection for the bull riders.
