The Historic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth debuted an exciting new event series last week to help rodeo fans looking to beat the Texas summer heat. Rank Rides and Country Vibes combes a live concert with bull riding. We sat down with Sheridan, Assistant Marketing Manager, to find out more about how this event came to life and answer a few questions.

1) How did Rank Rides & Country Vibes materialize?  What was the original concept behind this event?

Cowtown Coliseum has hosted concerts in the past featuring legendary artists such as Bob Wills, Doris Day, and Elvis Presley. As we have been home to the world's only year-round weekend rodeo, we wanted to show our guests we are more than just a rodeo arena and bring entertainment from the chutes to the stage (which became our tagline for this event). We figured what better way to showcase that than to bring one of the most exciting rodeo events and most beloved entertainment together, bull riding and live country music! Hence the name "PBR Rank Rides and Country Vibes".

2) How were the artists chosen?

Being located in the Stockyards, we are in the birthplace of western swing and the hub for hosting some of the hottest Texas country artists. When it comes to choosing who plays these events, we look at their audience demographic, style and sound. We ideally want someone who will appeal to the local crowd and attract tourists by embodying the spirit of the western heritage this venue holds but keep the excitement going with their performance after the bull riding.

3) Who are the stock contractors?

Double R Rodeo and Stockyards Pro Rodeo.

4) Can anyone enter the bull riding or do they have to be a PBR bull rider?

This event is open, a PBR permit or card is not required. With $5,000 added and some of the rankest bulls in the business, this is an event athletes want to get in on!

5) How does the event work? Is it one round or multiple? How is the event winner selected?

This past event we had 25 cowboys ride for a shot at the prize money in one long go round. The cowboy with the highest score, which is determined by combining up to 50 points for the bull and 50 points for the cowboy, will be the event winner. July 11th, Guthrie Long took the win with an 86-point ride.

6) Will this event replace the weekly PBR at the Cowtown Coliseum?

Our PBR Stockyards Showcase will remain the same- every Thursday at 7:30PM. We have 3 remaining "PBR Rank Rides and Country Vibes" events left for the year. When we have this change in our usual schedule occur, a Thursday Rodeo will take place, with the concert event to follow the next day.

7) How can you get tickets?

Tickets can be purchased on cowtowncoliseum.com
