Wainwright Stampede

Wainwright Stampede was held June 19-21st at the Wainwright Stampede Grounds in Wainwright, Alberta. In the rough stock events, Orin Larsen beat out Kody Lamb and Ty Taypotat by one point with his strong 89.5 point ride on Dancing Queen (Vold Rodeo) for first in the bareback riding and a check for $3,858. K's Thomson took first in the saddle bronc riding with a big 87.5 point ride on Tool Time (Duffy Rodeo) for $3,768. In the bull riding, only four riders were able to successfully cover their bulls. Garrett Green took first with his 85.5 points on Forrest Gump (Outlaw Buckers) for $5,158.

In the first round of the steer wrestling, there was a tie between Bret Marshall and Clay Guthrie, with both bulldoggers stopping the clock at 4.5 seconds to take home $1,969 each. Bryn Roy took first in the second round with his 4.1 seconds run to earn $2,106. First in the average went to Clay Guthrie for 9.4 seconds on two head to pocket another $3,1560.

Grady Quam & Clint Weston took first in the first round of the team roping with their quick 5.4 seconds run to net them $1,859 each. Denim Ross & Kavis Drake took first in the second round with a lightening fast 4.2 seconds run for $1,859 each. Grady Quam & Clint Weston also took first in the average with 12.9 seconds on two head to bring home $2,789 each.

In the tie-down roping, Colt Cornet took first in the first round with an 8.8 seconds run to earn $2,205. Logan Bird took first in the second round for his 8.9 seconds run for a $2,205 check. First in the average went to Steele DePaoli for 19.5 seconds on two head to net him $3,308.

In the women's events, there was a tie for first in the barrel racing between Taylor Manning and Austyn Tobey, with both ladies stopping the clock at 17.50 seconds to take home $5,313 each. Lilly Artemenko took first in the breakaway roping for her fast 2.8 seconds run to earn $2,284.
