The Duvall name is well-known and well-respected in the bulldogging community. Roy Duvall is a 3x world champion steer wrestler who still holds the record for most NFR qualifications at 24 years old. Although he never qualified for a gold buckle himself, his younger brother, Bill Duvall, was Roy's hazer throughout his rodeo career and a tremendous part of his older brother's success, especially with it came to winning at The NFR. The Duvalls have continued to compete at a high level of rodeo each generation. Bill and Roy's cousin, Tom Duvall, has been to the NFR; Bill's son's, Sam and Spud, have each qualified 2x; and Sam's son, Riley, has qualified 4x. And with a legacy like that, it's no wonder this family's annual jackpot is a favorite for many bulldoggers.

This year marked the 46th Annual Duvall Jackpot in Checotah, Oklahoma. This two day event starts with the Champion of Champions on Friday afternoon, which is a three round event followed by a short round of the top 10 competitors. In the first round, Justin Shaffer took first with his 4.1 second run, followed by Jacob Elder who had a 4.3 second run, and Newt Bush who had a 4.5 second run. In the second round, Justin Shaffer beat out Mason Couch by .1 second to take first again with his 4.1 second run. Third was a split between Gary Gilbert and Marc Joiner who tied with 4.4 sec runs. In the third round, Sam Goings took first with his 3.6 second run, followed by Justin Shaffer with his 4.3 second run and Coy Johnston who had a 4.6 second run for third. Marc Joiner took first in the final round with his 5.7 sec run, beating out Coy Johnston and Newt Bush by .1 seconds who tied at 2/3. Justin Shaffer also took first in the average for 20.3 on 3 head. Newt Bush took second for 21.2 on three head and Shane Frey took third for his 23.3 on three head.

On the second day of the jackpot there was also a 40 & Over round and a 19 & Under Round. Results will be updated after the conclusion of those events.
