The Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo kicked off June 21-22 in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado with live music and BBQ before the rodeo performances and barrel man and clown specialty acts keeping fans entertained between rodeo events . Rodeo has been a part of Steamboat Springs heritage for over 100 years although the exact date it first began holding officially organized rodeos is unknown. It has a rich history tied to the ranching and Western heritage of Steamboat Springs.

This year Jacoby Campbell took first in the bareback riding with his 73 point ride on Rocky Mountain Rodeo's Bandito Lady. There was a tie in the steer wrestling with both Chisum Docheff and Talon Sterkel having 5.6 second runs. In the team roping Paul Beckett/Chad Wahlert took first with a 4.9 second run. Garrett Long took first in the saddle bronc riding with a 78 point ride on Rocky Mountain Rodeo's Twitchy. In the tie-down roping Colby Anders took first with a 10.7 second run. Rachel Huerkamp took first in the barrel racing with a 17.80 second run. There were only four qualified rides in the bull riding. Mason Spain took first with his 86 points on Rocky Mountain Rodeo's High Strung. All-around cowboy went to Colby Anders who competed in tie-down roping and steer wrestling.
