PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Event in Reading, Pennsylvania

Friday night was a tough one for the bull riders with the bulls having an impressive 93.54% buckoff rate at the PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Event in Reading, Pennsylvania. Just making a qualified ride was a feat! Out of thirty-one attempts, only two riders were successful. Alisson De Soza was able to last the full 8 seconds for an 84 point ride on Helena’s Pet (J Bar W) to win Round 1 and 28 points Velocity Tour points. Eduardo de Oliveira was the only other rider with a qualified ride. Oliveira smartly decided to keep his 56 point ride aboard Funny Farm (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/PCP Bucking Bulls) over taking a re-ride, earning him 10 points.
On Saturday the bulls continued to steal the spotlight with only three out of sixty-seven riders able to make a qualified ride. Combining both nights, the bulls recorded a nasty 95.52% buckoff rate! There were no easy paychecks won in Reading this weekend. Melvin Byler, who was only able to go 1 for 3 in his rides, took first with an 86 point ride in the final round on Smooth Criminal (Lucas Manning Bucking Bulls) for his first career PBR event win and108 points. He was bucked off in 3.57 seconds in Round 1 by Schizzo (J Bar W) in 3.57 seconds and in 4.55 seconds by Big Mouth (C-B Bucking Bulls) in Round 2. Alisson de Souza who won Round 1 took second and gained 78 Velocity Global points. He was unable to make any additional qualified rides after Round 1 and was bucked off in 2.43 seconds by Nighttime Crime (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) in Round 2 followed by being unseated in 2.3 seconds by The Undertaker (Cornwell/Riley/PCP Bucking Bulls) in the final round. Eduardo de Oliveira was the only other rider to last 8 seconds for a qualified ride and took third, thanks to him keeping his 56 point ride on Funny Farm (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/PCP Bucking Bulls) in Round 1 over a re-ride which earned him 46 Velocity Global points.
Although the bulls were outstanding, Tyrone (Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Rafter Bar J Cattle) and Angel’s Envy (CCL Bucking Bulls/Lone Star/Cornwell Bucking Bulls) bucked the best and tied for the Bull of the Event honor with each marking an event best high score of 43.5 points in the championship round. Tyrone unseated Marlon Henrique in 1.4 seconds and Angel’s Envy bested Alex Cantoral (Morales, Guatemala) in 3.52 seconds.
