The Cherokee Nation held a Derby & Classic ABBI sanctioned bull riding event August 15th at the Rockin P Arena in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Both classes showed off some tough bulls and only one out of fifty plus riders, Braxton Fritts, in the Derby was able to successfully cover his bull with his 63.6 point ride on Broom (Philpott Bucking Bulls).
In the Derby class, 305 Here's the Deal (Copp/May) took first with an impressive 91.20 score to win $8,904.00. 916L Li'l bit Feral (JKM Cattle Co/G & K Cattle) took second with his 90.50 score to earn $7,632.00. 357 Son of War (Martinez Bucking Bulls) took third with a bull score of 88.90 points for $6,784.00. Fourth place went to 3777 Big Unit (Braun Bucking Bulls/Cooper) with a 88.60 point to net him $5,724.00. 1L Magic Smoke (Risen/Rock Solid/Bear) took fifth with a score of 88.50 for $4,664.00. Sixth/seventh was a split between 939 Bush Light Bubba (Rising Stars/Rockin KL) and 318- The Professor (B-J Ranch / Hilton Bull Co), with both bulls scoring 88.40 points to for $2,756.00. L36 Make It Happen took eighth place with a score of 87.90 to pocket $1,696.00. There was another split for ninth/tenth place between 45-3 Duke (Halpain Bucking Bulls) and 372 Radiation (Kasel/Payne/Flying S Bucking Bulls), with both bulls scoring 87.70 points to take home $742.00 each.
In Classic class, +28K Wicked Intentions (Martinez Bucking Bulls) took first with a score of 90.10 for $9,760.00. 10K El Guapo (Crazy J) took second for 89.80 to net him $7,320.00. Third place with went to 241 El Patron (Martinez/Frank Froese Bucking Bulls) for his score of 89.73 to earn $4,880.00. 147 Running Red (Rafter H Rodeo/Morales/G&H Cattle/BJ Cattle) took fifth place with 89.60 for $2,440.00.
